Welcome to Moe's

If you haven't notice I'm a big fan of Mexican food and it's not because people think I look like one! In Florida you can find a Moe's Southwest Grill on almost every street corner, but up here you have to drive at least 20 or so minutes to find one. Well last week I met a student up at Moe's and I was so excited that I was able to order my "Triple Lindy" burrito the size of my face! One thing I like about Moe's is that it prides itself on is being unique in the type of music they play in their restaurants. They like to play a lot of older "popular" music. I guarantee that if you were to eat at a Moe's that you will at least hear a song by Sinatra, Jimmy Hendrix, and Elvis before you leave. So on my way out I did my usual, "hey I gotta go to the bathroom" thing and the song, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" was playing. We all know that when you're in a bathroom the music is louder and the acoustics (not that I know much about acoustics) make you sound like you're awesome. So while I'm doing my business I'm just singing aloud, "I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again..." and as I go to wash my hands I see this sign...

for those of you with bad eyes it says, "remember people can hear you singing while you're in here." I couldn't help but get a laugh out of it. Right when I walked out the table right across from the restroom area was a family of four with young kids and they looked at me, smiled and gave me a thumbs up. I guess a little singing can bring joy to all our lives! Thank you Moe's for jagnormous burrito's and good music.

A Date Night that 'Rocked'

So as many of you know Tracy and I try to do a date night at least once if not twice a week. I know some of you are thinking, "You don't have any kids isn't every night a date night." Let me ask you a question, when you didn't have any kids was every night date night for you?..... Yeah, I didn't think so! So this past Friday night we decided to do something cool. We're far from professional chefs but we had some ground beef to use so the options were spaghetti, hamburger helper, or tacos (but there was no lettuce....so I said no). While trying to figure out what to eat we found some Chili Verde Enchilada Sauce (don't ask how we "found" it, I think it was in there for a long long time), but on the side of the can it had a recipe for some super sweet cheezy enchilada's. So we put our cooking skillz to the test and made a meal as if it came from La Rancherita itself! But what made the night really rock was that I showed Tracy how to play the video game "Rock Band" and to my surprise she LOVED it! She stuck to the Bass Guitar and I became the next Ringo on the drums, well not really considering the difficulty was set to easy. We had so much fun that we created a band and named it "Mullinicious" and we now have over 15,000 fans and won some old junky van! This date night literally ROCKED!

I was once a Hooter's Girl

So I have been working on this one project and I have my mom sending me some old photos of me back in the day. And I came across this one of me as a senior in high school at a costume contest for church.



Yes, that is the same guy who leads the students of Crosspointe Church. Parents don't worry the only one who dresses up like a girl in my house now is my wife! I have to admit I was one UGLY chick, but I got a $50 gift certificate for winning the contest so it paid off. So there's a picture of my history for ya, one that you'll probably want to delete off your mind forever!

My Favorite Person in the World

Today is my wife's 23rd Birthday! We've been married now for two and a half years and have been together for over six. I am the luckiest person in the world to have Tracy as my wife. So here's a list of 23 things that I love about her! Happy Birthday babe I love you!

1. She loves me unconditionally
2. She has a loving relationship with the God of the Universe
3. She is an amazing wife
4. She is stinkin’ HOT
5. She has the most beautiful smile
6. I love how when she does smile her eyes look more Asian than mine
7. I love how she makes Lilo & Stitch dance
8. I love how she takes Lilo & Stitch out in the middle of the night so I don’t have to wake up
9. I love it when she has a tune stuck in her head she uses the word “dum, dum, dum” for everything and swings her head back and forth
10. She’s from Florida
11. She let’s me play Xbox with my buddies
12. She tells me when I don’t match
13. She knows how to cook my mom’s best dish
14. That although she knows the above, she can’t cook much anything else but sure does try
15. She has learned so much about football (rules, teams, etc.) just because I love it so much
16. She loves investing in the lives of students
17. She is a bargain shopper
18. She has an awesome family
19. She loves Oriental food (except sushi)
20. That she watched the entire Star Wars Saga and Gladiator just so I would watch The Notebook with her (I knew it was unfair deal)
21. I think it’s cute that she worries about the littlest things
22. I love that she tries to play Xbox and Wii with me (I spank her in everything except Wii Bowling, she’s a beast)
23. That she’s a Gator fan and gives me crap for being a Seminole fan, although deep down she could care less

Tradition Broken

Today was a bitter sweet end to a wonderful tradition. Every Tuesday Chris Mills and I held a weekly tradition of eating at Salsa Fresh and getting a California Enchilada Style Burrito (pictured above). This quite possibly may be one of the best things ever created on the face of this planet. Unfortunately it's not the best for your waist, so in order to hold each other accountable we have decided to move our meetings to a healthier place that is undecided. Although we will miss this cheesy goodness, we will help each other become healthier and slimmer dudes. Let's just hope we're not fooling ourselves, because dang this was some good stuff!

Oh, the Places You'll Go.....or've Been

Is "or've" even a word? It made sense in my head when I typed it. For those of you still trying to figure it out I was trying to say "or have." It seems like I'm always on the run somewhere these days. I went to Haiti and D.C. within the past month and had a blast at both. Not to mention I got pee'd on by a 2 year old Haitian, that'll make any trip worth it! If you would like play-by-play details check Jbow's Blog Post. I'm excited about these two places because we'll be taking our students to serve and love on the people there. I can't wait to see our students' world get rocked when they see that not everyone lives like they do in rich Cary, NC! I hope the picture brings you joy in my pain.

Crazy Few Weeks

It's been a crazy few weeks for Tracy and I. We just got back from visiting family in Florida and in less than 6 hours we will be heading to the airport on a plane to Jacmel, Haiti. So these past few weeks have been a whirlwind for us.

I had the opportunity to be a part of my buddy Bryan's wedding outside of Chicago, IL. They had a beautiful wedding with over 20 in their wedding party! It was great to be there to support my friend and see him with the love of his life. They are a couple that definitely look like they belong together!

It was a few days after I returned from Chicago that we left to see our families in Florida. It was nice to see family members I hadn't seen since last Christmas and connect with friends who we haven't seen since we left. I was spoiled with having my mom make all my favorite food and had fun teaching my mom use a Mac and iPod. The thing I enjoyed the most was wearing shorts and flip-flops the entire time I was there! You can't beat the Christmas weather in Jacksonville! Next year the family is coming here for Christmas, that should be exciting!

We're looking forward to spending time loving on the children of Haiti and just seeing the awesome things God is doing there through the Haitian Children's Home! Pray for us and we'll post pictures when we get back!
