Week Recap

Seems like everyone does one of these, "Week/end Recaps" at least a few times on their blog. So for all those people who are genuinely excited or interested about my life here's a list of things that happened to me this past week!

- Started off by being belittled by a co-worker and student parent while eating at Cheesecake Factory. Do I really look like a mexican and why is it assumed that I would pull for the University of Hawaii? I think I need to file a complaint to HR, I guess that goes to Rick. That's for you AP!

- Tracy and I had our first intro to cooking class at Savor Hospitality. It looks like our "Couples Cooking Class & Dinner" this Friday should be pretty awesome!

- Visited the Raleigh Rescue Mission. Very good stuff happening there and maybe we can get some of our students to serve with them sometime.

- Had a great time meeting with my buddy Josh at Panera for our weekly student pastor get-together. Danny boy usually joins us also, but the in-laws were in town celebrating his wonderful wife's birthday, he's a good man!

- On Saturday I picked off a few of my students as our Haiti Mission Team got together for a SWEET game of Laser Tag in the woods behind Crosspointe. Thanks to Terra Nova Tactical Sports for letting us play!

- The Robbie Seay Band lead worship at Crosspointe and put on a great concert later that evening!

- Last night I ranked up to "Warrant Officer" in Rainbow Six Vegas 2, while playing with Don. Almost to where I was in Vegas 1... El Capitan!

I'd say it was a great week!

A "Mullins" wins Crosspointe's Tourney Challenge!

So with this year's NCAA Tournament finally over, Kansas wasn't the only Bracket Champion. When it comes to Crosspointe's Tournament Challenge a "Mullins" comes out on top! Although I'm bummed that I didn't win, I am very PROUD to say the "Mullins" that won is my wife! Out of the entire league she was the ONLY one to choose Kansas to win it all and it was that win that catapulted her to the top and she now shares the #1 spot with Mark Kitts. (BUT I like the fact how her names comes FIRST!) Last year I was in the final game against Bow and my own pride wouldn't let me choose the Florida Gators to win it all. (even though I knew they would win) So I chose Ohio State to win and he chose Florida and we all knew how that ended. So even though I didn't win this year I still finished 8 out of like 20+ and the best thing about it all is that Jonathan is nowhere near the top and the first name you see is "Mullins!" Way to guess it right babe, I'm so proud of you!

you better BELIEVE it

This weekend we are in Atlanta, GA with our middle school students for a Ciy BELIEVE conference! It has been awesome to see our kids just having a blast and grow closer with one another. We had three of our kids on stage to help with one of the skits and a couple of our girls were interviewed for the preview DVD of next year's Believe Conference! I'm so proud of our kids and the relationships they are building with one another! I can't wait to see the momentum that comes from this catalyst in our middle school ministry! I Can't Believe It's Been a Year!

So a year ago today I started as the Student Pastor of Crosspointe Church and boy was I scared out of my mind. What was a 24 year old kid doing leading a group of a 150+ students at a mega-church??? YIKES!!

There were so many thoughts running through my head then...
- Am I qualified to be at this place?
- What if the students don't like me?
- Will the adult leaders support me?
- Will Tracy and I find any friends our age?
- Am I a 2nd string player on an All-Star team?
- Is this really happening, since it is after all April Fool's?

And today I can confidently say:
- If I wasn't qualified, then God wouldn't have sent me here.
- These students embraced me with arms wide open and still do!
- The overwhelming love and support of my ENTIRE adult leader team still blows me away!
- We are in a Life Group with 5 other married couples our age, without kids, who love doing life together.
- It's been amazing to learn from those who I saw as "All Stars" (which I still do) and see how much they have helped me grow.
- A year in and we are still here loving every minute of it!

So thanks to the Leadership Team and Elders for trusting me to lead our students in their journey with Christ. To my adult leaders, I brag on you every chance I get. Thanks for loving on students and supporting my leadership. To my students, it still amazes me the unique story each of you have and how you allow and trust me to be a part of it. I truly love you all. Thanks to our personal families supporting us to leave and become "one" in marriage and ministry. We know that was hard for you. Most of all thank you God for using Tracy and I in this way!

Man I LOVE this place!

What a great weekend!

So this past weekend was awesome! It's the first time in a while that I just felt like I had no worries or responsibilities. My parents came up to visit from Jacksonville, FL to celebrate my mom's birthday and check out what a Easter service looks like at Crosspointe! Which by the way was the most AWESOME service since I've been here!

It seems like whenever my parents visit I always gain like 5 lbs because we eat at extremely fattening places! My favorite place was some Brazilian Grill where they bring out like 12 different kinds of meat that range from Filet Mignon, to Lamb, to Prime Rib, to any kind of meaty goodness that you could think of! It's by far one of my top 3 places to eat ever! (Why is it I always post about food somehow?)

The only bummer part of this weekend was that Tracy was down in Jax visiting her family and I didn't get to spend this great weekend with her too. It felt like I traded her for my parents, but it was great to have that personal time with mom and dad. So thanks for an awesome weekend and I hope you had a great birthday mom!

Rock Band Update

"Mullinicious" is now up to 210,000 fans with the opportunity to play for a jet liner! Eddie switched from drums to electric guitar. Our best song is "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 (which by the way is the ONLY song Eddie can do on expert). Tracy is still rockin the bass now on medium and Eddie sports a dual neck electric guitar! Watch out world we're the next big thing since Michael Jackson.....don't ask cause I don't know. Rock on!

Catalyst Recap

Last night we had our first "Catalyst" in over two months. For those of you who don't know what Catalyst is, it is our student ministry's once a month large group setting where we program a creative worship environment for high school students. It never ceases to amaze me that amount of work, time, and effort that goes into an event like this and just seeing students, parents, and adult leaders just pour themselves into it. Without going into full details I just wanna say thanks to the student worship team and tech team for staying there ALL day to practice and make the night as awesome as it was. John & Dellie you guys are some of the most incredible people I know thank you for all your help yesterday. Gerald thanks for giving up your afternoon on the fly. Stephen great opening video thanks for stepping up. Linda & all the parents who provided dinner for our students you ALL rock! Steve thanks for speaking truth into the lives of our students. And finally the mastermind behind this Catalyst and all the other Catalysts, Travis bro you're a freak of nature and I can't wait to see the mad crazy stuff you'll be doing in ministry!
